Abstract
Muscle involvement is a frequent manifestation of hypothyroidism (1, 2). Findings include myalgias, stiffness, weakness, elevated muscle enzymes, electromyographic abnormalities, and histologic changes. Serious muscle involvement is distinctly uncommon and rhabdomyolysis has not been recognized previously as a complication of hypothyroidism. We report a case of renal failure produced by massive muscle necrosis and myoglobinuria in a hypothyroid patient.
