Abstract
The roentgenologic features of 12 lacrimal-gland tumors were reviewed. Bony changes adjacent to the tumors were noted in 11 patients. Benign mixed tumors often enlarge the lacrimal fossa but cannot be differentiated roent-genologically from early adenoid-cystic carcinomas or other benign lesions in this location. On the other hand, lacrimal-gland carcinomas invade adjacent bone early and often cause bony sclerosis or destruction. The importance of the roentgenologic examination in determining the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy, as well as in detecting the presence of recurrence of lacrimal-gland tumors is emphasized.
