Abstract
Presentation of Case First admission. A 53-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of dyspnea.The patient had cerebral spastic diplegia, with athetotic movements and slurred speech from birth. She was otherwise well until six years before admission, when acute polyarthritis developed. A test for rheumatoid factor was positive in a titer of 1:1242; an L.E.-cell test was negative. Aspirin was given, with prompt remission. Five years before entry dyspnea developed, and digoxin was instituted.
