Abstract
By the use of complexing with calcium or strontium ions to alter the anomeric equilibria, the following methyl glycosides have been synthesized in good yield: methyl α-D-ribofuranoside, β-D-lyxo- furanoside and -pyranoside, α- and β-D-mannofuranoside, α-D- talopyranoside, α- and β-D-talo-furanoside, α-L-gulo-furanoside and- pyranoside, and all the four methyl glycosides of D-glycero-D-gulo- heptose.
