Abstract
A quantitatively standardized technic based upon the use of the 50% unit of complement has been developed. Its use is in studies on the serodiagnosis of amebiasis. An exptl. antigen, a constant source of preserved sheep''s blood, and the spectrophotometer to standardize the hemolytic reaction, have given accuracy and facility to the technic. A total of 1 ml. is used in the tests, 0.2 ml. being alloted to each of the reagents. A 1:2 serum dilution in salt soln. is tested, alone and with antigen, in the presence of three 50% units of complement. 4 hrs. at 3-6[degree]C are allowed for fixation, and 30 min. at 37 [degree]C for hemolysis. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
