Über ein neues Kreislaufhormon. II. Mitteilung.

Abstract
The new hormone can be prepared both from urine (E. K. Frey and H. Kraut. Ibid. 157: 32. 1926) and from blood. The latter preparation is rather unstable but yields larger quantities. Blood or serum inactivate the hormone gradually according to the time rule. The inactivating principle of the blood is very sensitive to changes of the pH to the acid side. The hormone is only neutralized by the inactivator, however, and can be liberated again from the inactive serum-hormone mixture by acidifying. The new hormone, obtained from the blood, is without doubt identical with the hormone prepared from the urine. They are both sensitive to high temp., strong acids and react alike against the inactivator of the serum. They have also an identical physiological action on the heart (enlargement of the amplitude of the pulse). The new hormone is not identical with histamine.
