Abstract
When the Resident Council of The Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale expressed concern about the perceived incidence of tipping, the Home formed a staff committee which explored alternatives. A Merit Gram was devised which gave residents and families the opportunity to acknowledge staff; and staff, in turn, the recognition they needed. Results indicated the effectiveness of the Merit Gram in reinforcing the no tipping policy while providing an alternative means of recognition. Keywords
