Abstract
Xanthoma Disseminatum of the Palm. Presented by Dr. Arthur E. Schiller. The patient was a 35-year-old white woman, who stated that in July, 1956, an eruption appeared on both palms and on the elbows. There was no history of diabetes or other general illness. The patient admitted to polydipsia, polyuria, and polyphagia. She was rather heavy and could readily have hypothyroidism. The urine was negative for sugar and albumin. Blood lipids were 7410 mg. per 100 cc. (normal 500-550 mg.) The complete blood cell count was within normal limits. The biopsy report was as follows: ". . . show what looks like small granulomas with foam cells. It is difficult to differentiate the various forms of xanthoma under the microscope but this seems to fit the xanthoma disseminatum better."
