Abstract
The oscillatory laminar flow of a Newtonian fluid in a circular tube has been investigated when the fluid is subjected to a periodic pressure gradient. A technique has been developed which allows the velocity amplitude to be determined as a function of radius and the results agree closely with theoretical predictions. The work is being continued with a view to employing the technique for the determination of the rheological properties of viscoelastic fluids. Keywords
