Abstract
Dormancy of Z. radicans resting spores was broken by storage at 4.degree. C and 100% relative humidity for 4-5 mo. Germination began in 2-4 days at 16.degree. C on water agar; maximum germination of 70% was observed after 20 days, either in continuous light or dark. Germination was similar to that previously described for Z. canadensis in that multiple germ conidia were produced. However, during the later stages of germ tube emergence, the epispore became roughened and dehisced, a phenomenon so far unique to Z. radicans among the entomopathogenic Entomophthorales. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
