Abstract
Single crystals of CaO doped with and have been investigated by paramagnetic resonance at band. Measurements were made at 290, 77, and 4.2°K. The spectra of and can be described by a cubic spin Hamiltonian. The constants for the spectrum of at 290°K are , , . The over-all splitting of the ground state is (380±4)× . The constants for the spectrum of at 290°K are , , , , and . The over-all splitting of the ground state is (781±20)× . The splitting parameters are found to vary only slightly between 290 and 4.2°K.
