Occult nonskeletal trauma in the battered-child syndrome.

Abstract
Three patients (ages 14 mo.-4 1/2 yr) with significant visceral injuries due to abuse were presented with abdominal signs and symptoms. In none of these cases was there external physical evidence of trauma or a history of abuse. The radiologic appearance of these injuries is described. The diagnosis of battered-child syndrome should be considered in any child with nonspecific abdominal signs and symptoms.
