Abstract
Virilization in the female is accompanied by change of the pitch and character of the voice to resemble a man''s. In the 6 cases presented, such virilization of the voice was brought about by the administration of an anabolic steroid for various medical reasons. All of the cases reported used their voices professionally. Such individuals are more likely to be concerned with the development of abnormal voice qualities. The only laryngoscopic findings which were consistent in these cases were a gray discoloring of the vocal folds and a greater than normal difference in length of the vocal folds when low phonation was compared with high. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
