Abstract
This article undertakes an examination of the media-sport production complex focusing on the interdependencies between sport, media and marketing organizations. The development of American football in European societies is considered and a more detailed study of its emergence in English society is outlined. This task is undertaken in the context of an appreciation of the commodification of sport and media production more generally.Keywords
