Abstract
The egg of Drosophila offers particularly favorable material for the study of the central bodies, since throughout the syncytial period of development (2,000 nuclei or more) all nuclear divisions are synchronous throughout the egg. Here the central bodies are causally concerned in the formation of the asters. They are genetically continuous from one cell generation to another. The classical view maintained by van Beneden, Boveri, Flemming and others is supported by these observations. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
