Abstract
This paper describes how a technique, well-known to social psychologists in bringing about attitude change, was used to generate interest and involvement of college students in course material. Students participated in a classroom debate in which they argued against their original viewpoints, and in so doing produced an unusually meaningful educational experience. The authors give guidelines for the use of this technique in the other biology courses. Keywords
