Abstract
POSTVACCINAL encephalomyelitis, which is a recognized complication of several vaccines, including smallpox, rabies and typhoid, has been reported only twice as a result of influenza vaccination.1 , 2 The following case report describes a patient in whom meningoencephalitis developed 12 to 14 days after inoculation with a purified influenza vaccine.Case ReportA 29-year-old man was well when, on October 9, 1969, he received a subcutaneous injection containing 0.5 ml of influenza vaccine.† Approximately 2 days later he had influenza-like symptoms with mild generalized myalgias.
