FREQUENCY AND GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION OF RESISTANCE TO USTILAGO IN SIX WILD SPECIES OF AVENA

Abstract
Accessions in the Canada Avena Collection of the wild oat Avena abyssinica, A. barbata, A. byzantina, A. fatua, A. sterilis and A. vaviloviana were tested for their reaction to Ustilago. Of 1674 accessions from various countries 869 were resistant, mostly in A. abyssinica and A. sterilis. The frequency of resistance in, A. sterilis was highest in accessions from Ethiopia, Israel, Lebanon, Syria and North African countries, but very low in those from Iran and Iraq.This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
