Abstract
DoseThe basic rule concerning the therapeutic dosage of the cardiac glycosides was delineated long ago by Withering, who wrote, "Let it be continued until it either acts on the kidneys, the stomach, the pulse, or the bowels; let it be stopped upon the first appearance of any of these effects, and I will maintain the patient will not suffer from its exhibition nor the practitioner be disappointed in any reasonable expectation."It is fundamental that the cardiac glycoside chosen be given in adequate amounts to obtain the desired therapeutic effect or, lacking this, the appearance of minor degrees of . . .Keywords
