Abstract
The analysis of a microstrip patch antenna with an electrically thick substrate is performed using a mixed potential integral equation. Basis functions are employed on the coaxial probe thus eliminating the often used thin substrate approximations. There is no theoretical limit to the thickness of the structures that can be analyzed. A special attachment mode, employed at the coaxial probe-antenna junction, is introduced. Measured and calculated input impedance results for isolated rectangular microstrip antennas are compared.Keywords
