Abstract
The paper describes a method of studying the factors affecting tree stability by measuring the forces required to pull trees over. It indicates that Fomes annosus root rot may reduce a tree's resistance to overturning by about 30 per cent, and that drainage in shallow peat soils can increase resistance by some 25 per cent. Keywords
