Abstract
This study was undertaken in an attempt to establish whether antibodies to glucagon could be detected in the serum of animals challenged with this substance. In rabbits so challenged non-precipitating antibodies to glucagon have been detected by both the Berson-Yalow radiochromatographic and electro-phoretic technics and the Skom-Talmadge antigen-antibody precipitation technic employing rabbit antiglobulin. After unlabeled glucagon has been incubated with dilute antiglucagon rabbit serum, the percentage of glucagon I131 which the serum will then bind is apparently a direct function of quantity of initial unlabeled glucagon. It is hoped that this technic will serve as a basis for an immuno assay of glucagon in body fluids. Keywords
