Abstract
The mouse has become a popular model for the study of retinal degeneration, but an electrode suitable for recording electroretinograms from the mouse cornea is not available commercially. I developed a simple electrode suitable for the relatively small mouse eye by attaching a thin stainless-steel wire through the barrel of a 1-cc syringe. The end of the wire is formed into a coil by wrapping it around a 0.5- or 1.0-mm pin. The syringe barrel serves as a convenient way to hold the electrode in a goose-neck holder. This electrode has been used successfully to obtain electroretinograms from hundreds of mice as young as 14 days. Keywords
