Use of Trifluoroisopropyl Cyanoacrylate Polymer (MBR 4197) in Patients with Bleeding Peptic Ulcers of the Stomach and Duodenum

Abstract
We evaluated the ability of a cyanoacrylate tissue glue (MBR 4197) to stop ulcer bleeding when topically applied through a panendoscope in 52 patients in a multicenter, randomized controlled study. Patients whose ulcers were sprayed with the cyanoacrylate tissue glue (N = 24) fared no better than those conventionally treated (N = 28). The problems encountered suggest changes for future protocols evaluating therapy in patients with bleeding ulcers.
