Abstract
Injection of pituitary extract resulted in a marked increase of Mg, Ca, P, and K in urine. Diuresis is the result of discharge of these tissue salts into the blood and the attempt of the blood to get rid of them. It is suggested that electrolyte changes in the tissues enable them to hold more water, hence the anti-diuretic action, and that in diabetes insipidus the failure of the body to retain water is due to a reversal of electrolytic conditions which decreases the ability of the body to retain water. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
