Abstract
A survey of first methodical experiences in microbiological examination of sewer rats, Rattus norvegicus, and rats, R. rattus, for yersiniae was conducted. From a total of 178 cadavers, 30 Yersinia cultures were isolated, including 4 Y. pseudotuberculosis serotype III strains. Y. enterocolitica serotype O3 was isolated only from R. rattus in pig houses. The importance of suitable treatment of cadavers (at best in frozen state) and their quick delivery to the laboratory is discussed. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
