Abstract
Undergraduates scoring at the extremes on the Mehrabian and Epstein (1972) empathy scale completed a questionnaire tapping their early socialization experiences. Hi and Lo empathy groups differed on a variety of dimensions relevant to the expression and awareness of affect. A consistent pattern of sex differences on the empathy-relevant socialization practices was also found. Keywords
