Abstract
From experimentally determined dissociation constants and structural parameters, effective dielectric constants are calculated for a few substances. This allows in each case an estimate of the electrostatic contribution to hindered rotation. For dithionic acid, whose dissociation constants are not known, a reasonable DE must be assumed in order to make the same calculation for the various possible ionic species. The influence of these results on ionic equilibria in dithionic acid is then discussed in some detail. Keywords
