Abstract
This paper deals with a linear type ultrasonic motor using two longitudinal effect piezoelectric ceramic elements which are positioned two-dimensionally. In the first part of this paper are described the vibration loci generated by the composed apparatus of two piezoelectric elements, which can vibrate independently in each direction. The second part contains a right angle construction of two piezoelectric ceramic elements and its measured vibration loci. In the third, a linear type ultrasonic motor using the composed apparatus is proposed and its measured characteristic is shown. This linear type motor has some superior features to other conventional motors. Keywords
