Abstract
Much attention has been focused in recent decades on the process of double photoejection, with comparatively little study of the closely related process of photoejection plus excitation of the residual fragment. We present new calculations for the process , which quantitatively reproduces recent experimental measurements (Wehlitz R et al 1997 J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 30 L51). These calculations show that the controlling electron correlations are confined to distances much smaller than the extent of the state that is excited. Keywords
