Abstract
The topic of electron-ion collisions is discussed, primarily from the experimental viewpoint, with an emphasis on recent experiments and new techniques. The methods used in crossed-beam experiments, ion traps and sequential mass spectrometry are described with their application to the measurement of cross sections for electron impact ionization and excitation of positive ions, detachment from negative ions and dissociation of simple molecular ions. Keywords
