Abstract
Further work with an earlier reported turbidity test for quality in hays has involved the testing of 77 additional lots of various kinds of hay. Results pooled with the earlier work show the same general trend, viz., highly significant correlation between turbidity (optical density) of aqueous suspensions of ground hays and their protein, fiber, ether extract, and total ash content. Results of milk production trials with 28 of the hays also show a significant correlation between the turbidity test on the hay and.average daily milk production. Limitations of the test in its present state of development are pointed out. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
