Age Recognition from Voice

Abstract
The ability of 10 listeners to differentiate the voices of younger adults (under age 35) from older (over age 65) subjects on the basis of a prolonged vowel, a reading sample played backward, and a reading sample played forward was tested. Listeners were able to differentiate the voices of younger adults from aged speakers with impressive accuracy under each of the three successive listening conditions of decreasing difficulty.
