Abstract

The bleed characteristics of seven commercial GC septum types have been studied. In addition to general background bleed, numerous discrete peaks were observed under simulated temperature programmed analysis conditions. Although heat treated and Teflon faced septums were included in this survey, none was judged to be satisfactory for submicrogram analyses with conventional injection port equipment.
