Recognition and Solubilization of Glucose 6-Phosphate and 6-Phosphogluconate Dehydrogenases in the Particle Fractions of Brain

Abstract
It was recognized that the activities of glucose 6-phosphate and 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenases are present in the brain mitochondrial and microsomal fractions at about 10 per cent of the total activity. In the liver a slight activity of the enzymes was found in such fractions.Solubilization of both enzymes by Triton was successfully performed.Several preparative methods for homogenization and solubilization were tried, and discussions were made on the properties of the particles and extracts thus obtained.
