Variation in Susceptibility of Soybean Pubescent Types, Broad Bean, and Runner Bean Varieties and Plant Introductions to the Potato Leafhopper1

Abstract
In 9 pubescent leaf hair types of soybean, Glycine max, the deciduous and glabrous types were severely hopperburned and had high nymphal populations of the potato leafhopper, Empoasca fabae, whereas the dense, sparse, appressed, normal, and irregular leaf hair types were not severely damaged and had low nymphal populations. All varieties and plant introductions of broad bean, Vicia faba, and runner bean, Phaseolus coccineus, were susceptible to hopperburn and leafhopper nymphal infestation.
