Abstract
When an acoustooptic modulator is used for laser-cavity dumping, an amplitude modulation of the light output at twice the acoustic frequency can result. When the laser is also mode locked, this modulation can be readily observed with a relatively slow detector. In addition, the modulation can be utilized to increase the fraction of the light dumped from the laser. Keywords
