Abstract
Normal and sterilized (60Co) native and laboratory treared male Heliothis zea (Boddie) were caged with native and laboratory-reared females in all possible combinations. Locking, i.e., failure to separate after copulation, occurred in at least 39% of all matings involving laboratory-reared males and rose to an average of 60% of matings between sterilized laboratory-reared males and native females. The mating and locking characteristics were astions. sociated closely with the type of male; egg production was affected significantly by the type of male and female. Keywords
