Abstract
We present a comparison between direct chromosome preparation and cell culture for first trimester fetal chromosome study using chorionic villi. The 2 techniques have advantages and disadvantages and are demonstrated to be appropriate for routine diagnostic work. The combined use of both methods may optimize the quality of the chromosome study and minimize the possibility of false‐positive and false‐negative findings. Keywords
