Cancer education is an essential element in the total national effort to control cancer. No expanded and intensified program, such as the one presently being planned in the United States, will succeed unless it provides the necessary skilled manpower to conduct research, training, and treatment programs. A team of specially trained medical personnel working in close cooperation is essential for adequate care of most cancer patients. There is, therefore, an urgent need to provide specialty training in oncology within each of the medical specialties.
