Brain Reserpine Levels Following Large and Small Doses of Reserpine-H3

Abstract
Tritiated reserpine administered intravenously to guinea pigs at a level of approximately 6 mg/kg showed time-concentration relationship in liver and brain similar to that observed for Cl4-labeled reserpine. When injected sub-cutaneously at a level of 0.1 mg/kg reserpine was again detectable throughout the period of gross physiological effects. The intensity of effect however bore no relationship to the concentration of reserpine in the brain. The tritiated material in the brain was indistinguishable from reserpine by paper chromatography.
