Abstract
Evidence is presented for the presence of a second extended X-ray emission region in the Virgo cluster in addition to that which is known to surround M87. This second region, which dominates at energies above ∼ 7 keV, is located in the vicinity of M84 and 86. The presence of two distinct emission regions, at different temperatures, provides a natural explanation for the observation by several experimental groups of a power-law energy spectrum.
