Abstract
The rate of response of bed forms and the coexistent bar roughness of a sand bed in a laboratory flume to changing hydraulic conditions was studied. Sophisticated electronic feedback control equipment was used to operate the flume such that the energy slope was maintained constant and the depth allowed to vary as a function of the bar roughness. The results indicate the importance of the bed load transport in generating and modifying bed forms. Keywords
