Abstract
Textile screen printing is still regarded as an art because there has been an inability to define the various parameters precisely and a lack of determination to establish printing on a scientific basis. This paper attempts to relate the theories of screen printing to the practice, and includes a detailed account of the main variables affecting the control of the process. The importance of rheology is emphasised, and flow curves are included to demonstrate their use in determining the printing behaviour of thickening agents.
