Abstract
Temperature-dependent 1H n.m.r. spectra and light-scattering intensity measurements for solutions of some dialkyl sulphoxides [dimethyl sulph-oxide (DMSO), diethyl sulphoxide (DESO) and dibutyl sulphoxide (DBSO)] in aprotic non-polar solvents have been investigated. Graphs showing the variation of these physical properties with temperature exhibited a change of slope which was characterized as a structural transition. The cluster formation of sulphoxides in solutions at low temperatures is suggested to be responsible for this phenomenon. Keywords
