Abstract
An effect of pH on the agglutinating activity of rheumatoid sera was demonstrated in the sensitized sheep cell test and the potentiated sensitized sheep cell test. Although the use of a buffering system did not change the incidence of positive tests, it did increase the titer of some sera. The studies suggest that inhibition of the agglutination system by some chemicals may be a function of pH, and that free amino groups may be essential for agglutination. Keywords
