Abstract
Observations with a dissecting microscope revealed a regular pattern of lobar development, from the centre outwards, for particular stages of development of the kidney in the embryo and fetus. A growth area near the poles is suggested, and further study is indicated to relate this to histogenesis. A formula is devised to facilitate the study of the lobation. Keywords
