Contact Hypersensitivity to Simple Chemicals. Incubation of Sensitized Guinea Pig Peritoneal Exudate Cells.

Abstract
Guinea pigs of the random bred Hartley strain were sensitized to DNFB [dinitrofluorobenzene] by painting. Peritoneal exudate cells were collected at 13 and at 17 days following initial contact with the chemical. Incubation of 13 day cells in balanced salt solution causes release of the capacity to transfer sensitivity into the solution. Incubation of 17 day cells causes the complete release of the transfer factor when the incubation solution is balanced salt. The transfer factor is not released when the 17 day cells are incubated in the presence of DNP-protein conjugate; however, this conjugate will permit the release from 13 day cells. Sonic extracts of 13 day cells can never transfer sensitivity. The released transfer factor does not possess reactive capacities usually associated with the classical antibody.This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
