Abstract
Just as there are haves and have-nots among people, universities and nations, so are there among diseases. Prominent haves, for obvious reasons, are cancer and cardiovascular disease, and their "conquest" is one of those unassailable goals profitable for the politician seeking votes or the specialty organization collecting money.
