Abstract
Leakage from rumen cannulae was controlled almost totally in sheep by inserting a disc of surgical-grade mesh tightly over the cannula stem at the time of surgery so that it was interposed between the serosa of the rumen and the peritoneum. The approach was inexpensive and, in our experience, improved the welfare of the sheep.
